What are Gig Buddies Group Social Events?
Gig Buddies group social events are hosted by the GB team so that all signed-up participants* and volunteers in the Gig Buddies project can catch up and do fun stuff in a group setting.
Monthly group social events are held all over Metro Sydney and Central Coast.
* a Gig Buddies participant has mild to moderate learning disability and/or autism
The main focus of the Gig Buddies project is to "buddy-up" participants and volunteers so they can catch up and go to their own events together.
Gig Buddies group social events are a "bonus" way for participants to meet people and socialise.
All group social events are run as "not-for-profit".
Participants only pay for a group social event if they need to cover the cost of admission tickets, venue hire and/or catering.
Group social events are included* as part of being in the Gig Buddies project.
* participants pay for their own food and drinks (unless a catered event)

What: Fair Day - Mardi Gras Festival

*There will be one Gig Buddies staff member for up to 14 attendees (participants and volunteers combined). If you need extra support, please let us know if you plan on bringing a support worker/support person with you to this event.
About the event ?
This will be our first outing for our Gig Buddies LGBTQIA+ group and Allies. Which is very exciting!
We will meet at Fair Day to get amongst the festivities of the Mardi Gras Festival together. They have markets to buy LGBTQIA+ trinkets , promote community services , food stores and amazing free entertainment!When: Sunday the 16th of February
What time do we meet? 2pm
What time does it end? 6pm
* You can come and go as you wish. It is a free event. Gig Buddies staff will be here during this time frame.
The Fair Day time table is not released yet. If we decide to make any timing changes we will let you know.
Cost: Pay for own food , drink and transport
Meeting spot: Rebecca will try find a picnic spot in the shade on the day and will text you the location details. Call if you can't find us.
How do I get there?
It is an 18minute walk from Central station. There are a lot of buses you can catch from Railway Square down to the park.

How will I get home? Please load up the same link - https://transportnsw.info - for suitable options on how to get home. Please note, transports to and from the venue is not supplied. Attendees are required to make their own way to and from the venue.
Food: There will be food and drink stores at the event. But please do expect long lines. If you want to save time and money you can eat before and bring snacks and water.
* Alcohol will not be permitted to bring into the event but you can purchase at the bar.
Fair day is part of Mardi Gras Festival so you truly can wear whatever you want. Just remember it is summer so be sun safe!
What else do I need to bring?
- Money for food / drinks/ purchases
- Photo ID 18+ if you wish to purchase alcohol
- Don’t forget your Opal card if catching public transport
- Hat , sunglasses , sunscreen
- Blanket or seat if needed to picnic on.
- Water to stay hydrated
- Phone for pictures and finding staff
- Mask and sanitiser if you wish
Accessibility:
* There will be some uneven ground in the park and large crowds to navigate through.
*BYO seat if needed.
*It will be loud so bring noise cancelling headphones if needed.

How do I join? Register by getting a ticket from this page (click 'add to bag' in the top right hand corner and enter your details)
Please note:
- Attendees must bring ID.
- Gig Buddies staff will be in attendance, but will not be on hand to provide individual support.
- Getting there: Transport to and from the venue is not supplied. Attendees are responsible for making their own way to and from the venue.
- Getting home: Gig Buddies staff may help attendees with catching public transport, taxis or Ubers home - up until 30 minutes after the scheduled end; Gig Buddies staff are unable to assist attendees who remain at the venue beyond this time.
- Attendees do not need to be paired with a gig buddy to join us. All signed up participants with a current service agreement or volunteers who have completed compliance are welcome to join us.
- COVID-19: If you’re feeling unwell we ask that you do not attend.
- Participants who require extra support must let the Gig Buddies team know if they will be bringing along a support worker or family member to an event. Thank you.

To register for a Group Social Event:
1. Click on the event you want to go to
2. Enter the number of tickets you like then click "add to bag" (many events are FREE!!!)
3. Click "Go to Checkout"
4. Enter your email address and agree to terms and conditions and click "Checkout"
5. Enter your details and click "Place Order"
* you must be a registered Gig Buddies participant with an active Service Agreement or a registered volunteer.
** if you do not sign-up (register) for an event, you will not be able to attend.
