As we approach the end of what’s been an incredible 2015, we dedicate the final blog of the year to inform our wonderful gig buddies and volunteers of what’s to come in 2016, along with paying homage to all those who have supported us during the past twelve months.
Starting early in 2016, a team of us will be going to two Sydney Festival events in January. Starting at Hyde Park on Wednesday 13th, we’ll be in attendance as The Chills take to the stage at the Spiegeltent. Nine days later on Friday 22nd we’re bound for the Riverside Theatres in Parramatta for Cypher, a show dedicated to “four battle-hardened b*boys.
Want to join us? We’d love to have the pleasure of your company. Ticket details for each show can be found via the links.
Following on from Gig Buddies Sydney social gatherings in the City, Manly and Bondi, we’ll be heading to the Inner West in February – coinciding with our first birthday, and we have shindigs planned for the Western Suburbs and Sutherland for later in the year. With a fundraising sausage sizzle in Chatswood, the continued development of Sports Buddies, and further volunteer training days penciled in the diary, 2016 is shaping up to be just as eventful.
To all of those who have supported us throughout 2015, we cannot say “thank you” enough. Paul, Madeline and Andrew from UK Gig Buddies, UNSW Roundhouse and bands Bloods and Seek the Silence, the City of Sydney, Triple J, the ABC, mX, 10x10, all of our generous donors, The Slip Inn, Hotel Steyne, Bondi’s Spring Street Social.
Pfizer, Cronulla Sharks, Tanya Plibersek, Alex Greenwich, Gladys Berejiklian, Ability Links, SSI, St Vincent de Paul Society NSW, Recreation Rendezvous, Life Without Barriers, students from UTS, UNSW, Ultimo Tafe and Manly’s International College of Management, and interns Rosie and Breanna.
Thanks to your contribution we’re taking steps in reducing social isolation. Because of your sacrifices and efforts (and we apologise to those who we may have missed out) we now have over 20 gig buddies who are out and about, checking out bands, hitting up clubs or going to events that they may not have done so 12 months ago.
As we continue to receive more and more volunteer and gig buddy applications that number will continue to grow in 2016.
So this is us wishing you all a happy Christmas and a prosperous new year. We’ll be back to do it all again from Monday January 4th, the day when the first blog for 2016 will be posted.
