Following our latest volunteer training session, we’re now in a position to pair up three more gig buddies.
A big thanks to volunteers Chris, Josh and Jorge (below) who came into our Chatswood office on Saturday.
We're indebted to the patience that our volunteers demonstrate as we search for the perfect gig buddy, and those who completed training on Saturday respectively signed up in January 2016, November of last year and as recently as April.
The same goes for our gig buddies; those being matched up with Chris, Josh and Jorge respectively joined in September 2015, April 2016 and October last year.
We are trying to get as many gig buddies and volunteers paired up as possible, but it does take time: a mutual interest, age, location and if the gig buddy has a preference for a male or female are all considered. Sometimes it comes down to luck, but we’re always looking to recruit new volunteers and gig buddies so we can get more people out to live gigs.
Building on these numbers, we’re now in the process of organising next month’s training, and so far we three volunteers lined up for July’s session.
On a separate note, we’re full of gratitude to those who have split with their hard earned prior to the end of the tax year. Last week we put out a blog asking our readers to “add some triumph to your tax return”.
Remember, anything over $2 can be reclaimed as of July 1st, and four days out it’s not too late to make a tax deductible donation.
Lastly, as many of you know, Gig Buddies Sydney is an initiative of ACL Disability Services, and our parent company are looking to recruit volunteer board members. Are you, or someone you know, passionate about the not-for-profit sector? Hit up the link to find out more.
