Fresh from presenting at the Arts Activated ‘Pathways to Practice’ conference last week, we are excited to announce that we’ll be taking Gig Buddies Sydney to an international audience later in the year.
In November we’ll be crossing the ditch, presenting at the ‘No more excuses: Looking beyond “because”' ASID (Australasian Society for Intellectual Disability) conference in Wellington.
Running from November 3 – 5, we’ll be sharing our experiences with a New Zealand audience on “how to enable social inclusion through a befriending scheme”.
Back in Sydney, last week Carol and I took to the stage at the Arts Activated conference (below), sharing our story to a national audience and explaining how we’re “valuing the audience experience”.
During our presentation we detailed how Gig Buddies Sydney works and the ways the project assists with overcoming social isolation. Off the back of our talk we held discussions with a variety of organisations and individuals from all over Australia, informing those in attendance how the program delivers on its objections.
