The gig guide Facebook forum

Writer's picture: Gig Buddies SydneyGig Buddies Sydney

During the past few weeks we’ve received feedback from a number of gig buddies, stating they would like a platform where participants can swap gig ideas in order to attend events with others.

One volunteer in particular informed us: “If my gig buddy and I wanted to go bowling at the weekend we’d like to invite others along. Having a Gig Buddies Sydney Facebook page where we could post event suggestions might be a good idea as we’ll be able to do things with other gig buddies.”

We’re all about expanding social circles and if this enables gig buddies to attend more events as a group then we’re all for it.

During Friday’s Soul Fly Band meeting, our user-led organisation discussed the idea, and the consensus was largely positive.

Based on Friday’s discussion, the pros and cons (above) were debated and we’re now asking you, our community of gig buddies, to share your thoughts.

Would you use a private Gig Buddies Sydney Facebook page? Do you think it’s fair to potentially exclude unpaired volunteers or gig buddies, or should the group be open to all participants?

Would you offer to monitor the group? Soul Fly Band suggested a gig buddy, volunteer and someone from the Gig Buddies Sydney office act as page administrators.

Would you be open to receiving guidance or training on how to use Facebook, or are there better alternatives to a Facebook group?

Please let us know your thoughts: we can be reached via email: info@gigbuddiessydney.org or by phone: 02 9419 6951
