Gig Buddies Sydney are proud recipients of the 2017 North Sydney Community Award.
In recognition of “outstanding service to the community”, our user-led group, Soul Fly Band, were on hand to accept the award during Friday’s ceremony.
Thanks to Trent Zimmerman, federal MP for North Sydney, and ABC’s Geraldine Doogue for hosting the event.
On Friday the Soul Fly Band also continued their preparations for November’s ASID (Australasian Society for Intellectual Disability) Conference, where they’re to take to the stage in Hobart and discuss how they help ensure we deliver on our mission statement of “promoting social inclusion and enabling people with disability to become actively involved with Sydney’s live music and events scene.”
In line with the conference theme, the Soul Fly Band will present on the subject of “pushing the boundaries” and how, as Gig Buddies Sydney’s advisory group, they help assist in shaping policy and provide strategic direction at both a corporate and operational level.
