Gig Buddies Sydney 2.0

Say hello to the new Gig Buddies Sydney logo.

When compared to our original logo, we've not only removed the use of the Sydney Opera House, but we’ve also got rid of the wheelchair.

While recognised as the international symbol for accessibility and readily regarded as a symbol for people with disabilities, we - as a project - emphasise equality between our participants, and we wanted a new image that reflected this.

To celebrate the launch of our new logo we partied at the Palace Hotel on Friday (10/5), and on the night we were joined by federal and state politicians, representatives from local businesses, the community sector and the disability peak body, gig buddies and family members.

Thanks to everyone who joined us.

We were also honoured to have the company of Gig Buddies creator, Paul Richards, who joined us from Brighton, England (below).

Thanks, too, to Uncle Ray for providing the Welcome To Country speech, Deputy Lord Mayor Jess Miller for talking about Gig Buddies Sydney’s ongoing collaboration with the City of Sydney, and Jenny Winstanley for taking photos.

In other news, we have a few tickets left for this Sunday’s trip to watch Cronulla Sharks take on the Canterbury Bulldogs.

In line with our signatory charity partnership with the NRL side, we’ll be making our first trip of the season to Shark Park. Tickets, $20 each and payable on the day, are still available.

This season we’re also offering a return bus service to Shark Park. With two pick up points, Milsons Point (Ennis Road, adjacent to Milsons Point Train Station, meeting at 12:20pm for a 12:35pm departure) and Central Station (corner of Eddy Avenue and Pitt Street, meeting at 12:40pm for a 12:55pm departure) attendees can travel to and from the game for $20.

And as with all games at Shark Park we’ll also be hitting up Sharkies League Club before the game for a bite to eat.
