Swifts get Fever

Updated: Aug 17, 2021

Thanks to everyone who cheered the NSW Swifts to their convincing 88 to 66 win over the West Coast Fever at the Quay Centre at Olympic Park on Sunday.

Also, thanks to Swifts' principal sponsor QBE for donating amazing court-side seats, and to the Swifts for putting on such a great show of athletic talent and skill! I’m sure it was a day to remember for everyone. #GoNSWSwifts

Woolies

Yesterday Gig Buddies participants and Woolworths employees Simon and Dom, joined Tony and GBS volunteer Cara at the Woolworths head office foyer for a fundraising/info day. The Samsung fridge raffle first prize (donated by Woolworths) drew heaps of attention as did the huge TV screen showing our Gig Buddies promotional videos.

We also had many curious employees signing up to our newsletter and asking us about the Gig Buddies project. Thank you Woolworths for this fantastic opportunity!

Sharks Buddies

We’re off to Shark Park (AKA PointsBet Stadium) this Sunday for the first of our Sharks Buddies games this year.

The Sharkies face Manly Sea Eagles in what should be a top game.

Big thanks to the Cronulla Sharks for having us as their charity partner for the third year running. #UpUpCronulla

p.s. Tickets are still available for the other 3 games this year. Get your tickets here.

Volunteers are GO!

Thanks to (L-R) Sam, Jade, John and Sarah for coming to Monday night’s volunteer training session. We appreciated your enthusiasm on the night and we’re confident you’ll be amazing gig buddies!

Volunteers…you are “Making a World of Difference”

Next week is National Volunteer Week (20-26 May)… a time to celebrate and acknowledge the amazing work volunteers do all over Australia. The theme this year is “Making a World of Difference”, and we couldn’t agree more with the sentiment. We will be posting some inspirational videos and stories from our volunteers and participants on social media to hopefully inspire more awesome people to sign up to be Gig Buddies Sydney volunteers.

If you know a volunteer who you think deserves recognition, nominate them for the 2019 Volunteer of the Year Awards.

If you’ve been thinking about volunteering for Gig Buddies Sydney, but have been putting it off... go on... sign up now.

Please read our FAQs if you want to know more about the Gig Buddies program.

Vivid LIVE (tickets still available!!)

Do you want to see some amazing talent at the iconic Sydney Opera House? Well, there are tickets still available for the Vivid LIVE gigs this month. Check out our link here and contact us if you’re interested in getting some discounted tickets.

p.s. All participants and volunteers are welcome (to all our events). You don’t need to be paired with a Buddy to join us.

That's all for this week's newsletter. We hope you enjoy the rest of your week and have a fantastic weekend!

Tony and Paula
