Prior to Christmas we had made plans for January that involved attending a number of Sydney Festival events. Unfortunately, during the two week break, Covid cases in the community were detected, causing a return to restrictions.
As a consequence, our plans have changed and we’ve had to rule out two events. However, as of today we are excited to announce we’ll be attending the following Sydney Festival gigs:
Firstly, we head to Barangaroo Reserve to pay homage to George Michael. You’ll then find us at the Australian Design Centre’s Makers Market in Darlinghurst, followed by a walk down memory lane at the Australian Maritime Museum.
We’ve tried to find something for everyone as we aim to start 2021 in style. This January we’ll be attending two free gigs while we’ve also lined up a budget-friendly concert. We’re also looking to replace the two events we had hoped to attend - more of which will be announced in due course.
To join us at any of our Sydney Festival outings, click on the links below:
The Rise and Fall of Saint George @ The Headland, Barangaroo Reserve. Friday 15 January. Price: $26.50 per ticket
ADC Makers Market: Sydney Festival Edition @ Australian Design Centre, Darlinghurst. Saturday 23 January. Price: free
A Mile in My Shoes @ Australian National Maritime Museum, Pyrmont. Friday 29 January. Price: free
The links above have information about each event, including meeting places and performance times. Please note, the present covid situation is ever evolving and, should any of our plans change, we’ll make an announcement. Additionally, we’ll grant full refunds should the George Michael event not go ahead.

New year, new NDIS plan dates?
Just a friendly reminder for our buddies that have NDIS plans.
If you have an unscheduled plan review or the dates of your plan change for any reason, it’s very important you let us know.
Any changes to an NDIS participants’ plan dates will automatically make your Gig Buddies service agreement void.
We need to be informed of any date changes so we can update your service agreement and ensure you’re still covered by our public liability insurance when out with your volunteer.
If there have been any changes to your plan or if you’re unsure about your current service agreement, please contact Chelsea, our NDIS Coordinator, either via email: chelsea@assistcom.org or phone: 0412 145 819 or 02 9419 6951 (Tuesday - Friday, 9am - 5pm).
New year, new you?

Two more from 2020
Before knocking off for the year, we paired up Christopher and Joey (left, L - R) and Margaret and Dawn (right, L - R) - our final two matches for 2020.
We can’t wait to see what you get up to in 2021!
Burgers for buddies 🍔
If you’re in Chatswood and fancy a bite to eat this January, may we recommend heading to Grill’d Burgers?
They’ve nominated us as one of their Local Matters charities for the month.
Grill’d Chatswood can be found at Shop 7 The Concourse, 405-419 Victoria Avenue. Be sure to put your lid in the Gig Buddies Sydney jar (above left) as the charity with the most at the end of the month pockets $300.
And finally….
We want to wish all buddies, family members and supporters a happy new year - we’re looking forward to connecting with and pairing up more participants in 2021.
Matthew, Carol, Tony, Bec and Chelsea
