All in One Day

Saturday 1 August will go down in Gig Buddies history - the day when all branches came together to perform in our very own 12 hour festival.

We kicked off proceedings (h/l) with punk band, Pursuit Special. Thanks to band members Maddy, Matt, Tiernan, Jack and Johnny, along with Lucas (visuals) and Brendan (sound), for rocking our studio in south Sydney and the online Zoom stream.

The party then headed to the UK as streamers took in live music, chat, poetry, yoga and comedy from England, Scotland and Wales. The 12 hour event concluded with a Zoom sing-a-long to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, bringing all the Gig Buddies branches together.

Thanks to all the performers who took to our All in One Day stage, and for the buddies located throughout the world for tuning in.

We’d also like to give a deserved shout out to Paul, Gig Buddies founder, for organising and facilitating the event, and also say thank you to our very own Tony for creating the event’s artwork.

This week we invite buddies to join us online for a new activity, talk the talk.

Come join us on Zoom and tell us about your specialist subject. Buddies will be given five minutes to wow us with your passion. This could be on a specific band, a type of cuisine or your favourite sporting team - the options are endless!

Feel free to bring along visuals, videos, sound clips or anything else you can think of.

The above ticket links will include information about what technology is needed to join in. All Gig Buddies Sydney online activities take place via Zoom.

Please note, during the weeks when we facilitate our bushwalking events, we will run one online social gig only.

Share the ❤️ and win

Our ‘recommend a buddy’ competition enters its third week.

As a reminder, we’re looking for existing participants to recommend new gig buddies who are 18 years old or over with mild to moderate learning disabilities and/or autism living within Sydney.

We’re eager to address our volunteer to buddy imbalance, currently sat at 501 to 175, and with your help we hope to make more matches, create new friendships and get more buddies to gigs.

To the person who makes the most referrals, they’ll win $200 to be used on tickets to events, while we’ll also give away a $100 second place and $50 third place prize.

Six of the best

It’s been another busy week back at Gig Buddies Sydney HQ.

Firstly we matched up six buddies. From top to bottom (above), we’re excited to welcome Lee and Nick, Nick and Kerry, Rachel and Kate, and Bec and Karla, plus Chris and Matt and Dan and Stephen (both not pictured), to the family.
