Bushwalk anyone?

Writer's picture: Gig Buddies SydneyGig Buddies Sydney

Following ongoing conversations with buddies and a recent monthly Zoom meeting with our user-led team, Soul Fly Band (pictured below), we’re excited to announce we’re starting to plan for outdoor socials.

Coinciding with social distancing rules being further relaxed from today (1/6) and a demand for buddies to resume “getting active”, between June and August we'll be going on the following bushwalks:

Location: Eastern Suburbs

Bondi to Coogee

Location: Northern Beaches

North Head Sanctuary - Manly

Location: Sydney CBD

Sydney City walk

Location: South Sydney

Cronulla Beach Walking Track (via Cronulla Train Station)

Location: Inner West

Tom Uren Trail

More information about each walk, including dates, times and how to register, will be revealed soon.

Become one with nature

Our planned bush walks aside, this week buddies have the chance to join us online for our science and nature quiz and Pictionary.

To get involved in any of our socials, click on the blue event links below:

Tuesday 2/6:

- 7:30pm: Pictionary

Thursday 4/6:

- Midday: Pictionary

The above ticket links will include information about what technology you need to join in. All Gig Buddies Sydney online activities take place via Zoom, while we’ve also written an easy read guide for Kahoot! - the app used for our science and nature quiz. Click here to read.

To take part in our science and nature quiz, buddies will need to access two devices - one to run Zoom and the other to enable the Kahoot! app. For example, buddies could access Zoom via a desktop computer/laptop and load up the Kahoot! app on a smartphone or tablet.

If you have any questions about any of our up and coming online socials or would like more information, send us an email: info@gigbuddiessydney.org, get in touch on Facebook Messenger or contact us via text or on the phone on either 0422 061 990 or 0412 145 819.

We made a match 😃

In a further sign that things are slowly returning back to normal, we facilitated a pairing this week.

Welcome to the team Ellie and Toyah (L - R) - our first pairing since March 26!

Happy birthday, your majesty

Next Monday (8/6) is the Queen’s birthday and, as such, the Gig Buddies Sydney team will be taking advantage of the long weekend. From 5pm this Friday (5/6) to Monday (8/6) we’ll be switching off all devices, returning fully recharged on Tuesday 9th - in time for the week's online socials.
