Earlier this year we revealed some of the issues we face when it comes to pairing up people.
Our mid term report highlighted the imbalance of volunteers to buddies, particularly in certain areas of Sydney.
Last Thursday (19/9), Tony and Harri (above) spoke at the Inner West Disability Forum, informing local disability providers and potential users from the area about who we are and what we do.
Fresh from making radio appeals, appearing on camera and staging more and more social events, we continue to generate exposure - all with the aim of getting more people paired up.
And we continue to take steps to address the imbalance of volunteers to buddies in other areas, too. This Wednesday (25/9) we’ll be appearing at the Northern Beaches Disability Expo, engaging with locals while looking to recruit new service users.
Carol and Harri will be representing the team at Dee Why RSL. The event is free to attend and runs from 10am - 1pm.
Taco time!
Tomorrow night we head to the city for this year’s first springtime social - Taco Tuesday at the Slip Inn, 111 Sussex Street.
Our booking is for 5:30pm and a small number of seats have become available. If you would like to join your fellow buddies for a night of Mexican goodness, click here.
Two more for the team
We made two new pairings last week - Alan and Nick (L - R, left) and Graeme and John (L - R, right)
We’re delighted to welcome both pairings to our community, and we look forward to seeing them out and about at one of our social events.
Come work with us
Talking of the team, Harri’s employment with Gig Buddies Sydney is, sadly, almost up.
More details will be posted soon, but we’ll be looking to recruit someone to fill her position of Gig Buddies Sydney NDIS Coordinator.
Harri will be returning to the UK during the final week of November, and we’ll be looking for someone to start late October.
