We’re excited to bring you news of a Gig Buddies exclusive - our first ever worldwide online festival.
On Saturday 1 August you’ll hear from Gig Buddies’ branches located throughout the world as we bring you our ‘All in One Day Festival’.
We’ll be kicking things off, introducing Pursuit Special who will be taking to our dedicated #AllinOneDayFestival Facebook page from 8pm - 9pm.
The party then heads to the UK, where streamers can take in live music, yoga, quizzes, poetry and much more.
For the night owls amongst us, the event concludes at 8am Sydney time (Sunday 2 August) with Gig Buddies South Wales and their KAZOOOM! party.
Check out the flyer above for a full rundown on what to expect. We can’t wait to kick things off this Saturday!
Refer to win
Our ‘recommend a buddy to win cash towards future events’ competition continues.
As a reminder, last week we revealed we’re looking for existing participants to recommend new gig buddies who are 18 years old or over with mild to moderate learning disabilities and/or autism living within Sydney.
We’re eager to address our volunteer to buddy imbalance, currently sat at 501 to 175, and with your help we hope to make more matches, create new friendships and get more buddies to gigs.
To the person who makes the most referrals, they’ll win $200 to be used on tickets to events, while we’ll also give away a $100 second place and $50 third place prize.

Happy Quizmas!
This week we invite buddies to join us online for two events, online art and our Kahoot! Christmas in July quiz.
While we normally celebrate the Aussie tradition of Christmas in July in the pub (or the aquarium, as we did last year), Covid-19 has forced our hand so we’re heading online for a Christmas-themed pub quiz.
To join us online for any of our events, click on the links listed below.
Tuesday 28/7:
- 6:30pm: Art with Gig Buddies Sydney
Thursday 30/7:
- Midday: Art with Gig Buddies Sydney
Friday 31/7:
The above ticket links will include information about what technology you need to join in. All Gig Buddies Sydney online activities take place via Zoom, while we’ve also written an easy read guide for Kahoot! - the app used for our Christmas in July quiz. Click here to read.
To take part in our Christmas in July quiz, buddies will need to access two devices - one to run Zoom and the other to enable the Kahoot! app. For example, buddies could access Zoom via a desktop computer/laptop and load up the Kahoot! app on a smartphone or tablet.
If you have any questions about any of our up and coming online socials or would like more information, send us an email: info@gigbuddiessydney.org, get in touch on Facebook Messenger or contact us via text or on the phone on either 0422 061 990 or 0412 145 819.
Treks in the city
Thanks to everyone who joined Steph and myself for our weekend walks around the city.
Friday (24/7) brought blue skies while Saturday (25/7) was a little more overcast. Click here to see our complete ‘walks with Gig Buddies Sydney’ photo gallery.
Give me five!
Back on the pairing and volunteer training front, we’ve had another fruitful week.
Firstly, we welcomed Rhea and Grace, Courtney and Evelyn, Amy and Bridie and Lucy and Serena (top to bottom, above) along with Bryce and Tim (not pictured) - our newest matches - to the family.
Doubling up
While this week we also prepped another two volunteers.
Thanks to Daniel (top) and Chris (bottom) for attending our volunteer training sessions. We’re looking forward to getting you matched up soon.
