October outings

Writer: Gig Buddies SydneyGig Buddies Sydney

We’re excited to reveal our social intentions for the month ahead.

We’ll be front and centre at five events next month!

First up, we invite buddies to join us in the city for the famous Noodle Markets. Two days later we go west, stopping off at Milperra for lunch and live music.

We then head north to Wahroonga for free music in the park courtesy of Jellybean Jam and Rocket Man vs. Piano Man! One week later we venture to the Inner West for the women’s AFL clash between Sydney Swans and Fremantle Dockers, and we conclude things with a trip to the city for Halloween trivia.

Gigs, gigs, gigs!

On the subject of Gig Buddies social events, we attended three such gigs just last week!

First up, buddies made their way to Redfern for a night of short movies courtesy of Bus Stop Films.

Then, last Saturday we headed in different directions for two live music experiences.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in Gosford for the Central Coast Music Festival. Likewise, hats off to those of you who joined us in Blacktown for the Never Ending 80s gathering.

As always, to see more photos from all three of our recent social catch ups, click here.

Each and every week we invite buddies to connect with us for our weekly chat.

Our chats take place via Zoom. To attend get in touch via text: 0422 061 990 or Facebook Messenger.

Say hello…..

Our face-to-face gatherings aside, it’s been a productive week on the pairing and training front.

First up, we’d like to introduce our latest match.

Welcome to the family, Dina and Sally (above, L - R). It’s great to have you both on board.

Six of the best

Likewise, we extend a warm welcome to our latest batch of trained volunteers.

We’re looking forward to matching Nicola (top left), Kayne (middle left), Gwen (bottom left), Holly (top right), Truc (middle right) and Scott (bottom right) with their new buddies.

Are you in the market for Gig Buddies’ merchandise?

New NDIS plan dates?

Here’s us with a friendly reminder for those buddies who have NDIS plans.

If you have an unscheduled plan review or the dates/details of your plan change for any reason, it’s very important you let us know.

Any changes to an NDIS participant's plan dates will automatically make your Gig Buddies service agreement void.

We need to be informed of any date changes so we can update your service agreement and ensure you’re still covered by our public liability insurance when out with your volunteer.

If there have been any changes to your plan or if you’re unsure about your current service agreement, please contact Chelsea, our NDIS Coordinator, either via email: chelsea@assistcom.org or phone: 0412 145 819 (Monday, Wednesday-Friday, 8am - 4pm).

COVID-19 Vaccinations - AN UPDATE

The NSW Chief Health Officer has extended the current exemption that allows workers (and volunteers) who have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine to continue to work if they have been assessed as being essential to the operation of the service.

All workers (and volunteers) who have not yet received their booster must also take reasonable steps to get the booster as soon as practical. The exemption has been extended to December 4 2022.

If you have already obtained your booster please send your certificate to info@gigbuddiessydney.org or via text/WhatsApp it to 0411 252 228

Similarly, for those who have been granted an exemption from a medical professional, we require a copy of any relevant documentation.

You can access your vaccination certificate through your Medicare or MyGov account. For more information on how to obtain a copy, click here.
