Bites out to eat, live music, outdoor catch ups, axe throwing, crazy shakes: we’ve plenty of variety on offer for our September socials.

Taking place throughout Sydney and the Central Cost, we invite buddies to sign up for the following:

As for the here and now, we have limited tickets available to our one remaining August gathering.

Taking place on Saturday 19 August, we invite our buddies aged 40 and over to our second ever such event.

We’re off to the Eastwood Hotel for a bite to eat. Jump on the link below to join us:

Please note, all other socials gatherings planned for August have now sold out.

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie

And on the subject of our socials, we facilitated two such gatherings last week.

Firstly, you would have found us in the city at York 75 Sports Bar last Monday night (31/7) for the Matilda’s 4-0 Women’s World Cup triumph against Canada.

And only yesterday we headed out west, stopping at Penrith’s Valley Regional Sports Centre for an afternoon of roller derby.

It was wonderful to catch up with so many of you. To see more snaps from both occasions, click here.

Six and out

In July we caught up with buddies on six occasions as we hosted socials in Campbelltown, the city, Villawood, West Ryde and Gosford.

Hats off to those who joined us for mini golf, the Archibald exhibition, a morning at the arcades, a Sunday roast, our Christmas in July catch up, and for the Women’s World Cup.

Our socials are a great way to meet new people. Taking place throughout Sydney and the Central Coast, we look to host on average five or six such gatherings per month.

Each and every week we invite buddies to connect with us for our weekly chat.

Our chats take place via Zoom. To attend get in touch via text: 0422 061 990 or Facebook Messenger.

Gig Buddies at the Expo

Thanks to everyone who stopped by our stall at the Sydney Disability Expo.

We were there at Sydney Olympic Park on Friday and the Saturday, informing attendees all about who we are and what we do - raising awareness about our services in Sydney, Western and Greater Western Sydney, and the Central Coast.

For those who missed out and would like to know more about us, we’re only a phone call away.

If you work for a corporate organisation or a ‘top end of town’ company; if you’re an LAC or disability provider; or if you’re a relative or friend of someone you know would make a contribution to our efforts, get in touch.

We’re happy to provide information - either in the form of a presentation, Zoom chat or a yarn over the phone.

If you would like know more about how we tackle social isolation for adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities and/or autism, or if you’re interested in volunteering with us, or would like to discuss any other ideas on how you could support our work, reach out.

We can be contacted via email, info@gigbuddiessydney.org, Facebook Messenger or via the phone: 02 9419 6951.

Updated plan?

And finally, here’s a friendly reminder for our buddies that have NDIS plans’.

If you have an unscheduled plan review or the dates/details of your plan change for any reason, it’s very important you let us know.

Any changes to an NDIS participant's plan dates will automatically make your Gig Buddies' service agreement void.

We need to be informed of any date changes so we can update your service agreement and ensure you’re still covered by our public liability insurance when out with your volunteer.

If there have been any changes to your plan or if you’re unsure about your current service agreement, please contact Chelsea, our NDIS Coordinator, either via email: chelsea@assistcom.org or phone: 0412 145 819 or 02 9419 6951 (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9am - 5pm).
