Last week we announced new walks, many of which sold out almost instantly. Therefore, we’re excited to add the following treks to our social calendar:
In addition to last week’s announcement, you’ll also find us repeating the following walks:
Location: Sydney CBD
Location: Eastern Suburbs
Location: Northern Beaches
Location: North Shore
Location: South Sydney
With regards to social distancing, each walk has been limited to 11 attendees (including one Gig Buddies Sydney staff member). Attendance is free - click on the links listed above to sign up.
The ten treks of Sydney
On the subject of our treks, thanks to everyone who joined Tony last Friday (21/8) for the Tom Uren bushwalk in Balmain.
We’ve now completed our original batch of walks. Between June and last weekend we had intended to facilitate seven walks, but due to popular demand we organised an additional three.
More than 90 buddies joined us as we completed our ten treks. Thanks to everyone who walked with us in Coogee (twice), the city (twice), Manly (three times), Lane Cove, Cronulla and Balmain.
It’s been great catching up with so many buddies in an outdoor setting - we’ve been delighted with the response. To see a full photo gallery from our walks, including last Friday’s stroll in Balmain, click here.
Judge for yourself
This week we invite participants to join us online for jukebox jury.
Here’s how our jukebox jury works: we’ll host a Zoom session where we invite buddies to share a YouTube clip of their favourite song. After the music we’ll have a Q&A where buddies can inform attendees of why that song is special to them.
Whether rock, pop, techno or classical - the song can be any genre, as long as it means something to you.
To join us online for any of our events, click on the links listed below:
Tuesday 25/8
Friday 28/8
The above ticket links will include information about what technology is needed to join in. All Gig Buddies Sydney online activities take place via Zoom.
Welcome to the team
This week we completed one new pairing.
We’re delighted to welcome Harry and Immanuel (above, L - R) to the family.
New volunteers
And we’re equally delighted to welcome Samantha and Daniel (top, L - R) and Jo and Lee (bottom, L - R) - our newest trained volunteers - to the team.
We’re looking forward to getting you matched with your respective buddies soon.
And lastly….
If you’re in the Chatswood area and fancy a bite to eat, why not pop along to Grill’d?
They’ve nominated our parent organisation, ACL Disability Services, as one of their monthly Local Matters charities.
Be sure to place your cap in the ACL jar (above right) as the charity with the most lids at the end of the month pockets $300. Be quick, the opportunity ends next Tuesday (1/9).
